We come here on weekdays for the lunch specials. Very good quality and you get variety of small Japanese side dishes.

Very authentic Japanese restaurant. Good sushi. Many Japanese lunch there. I suspect they offer different menus to Japanese patrons. Sushi is tasty, steak is not so good. Stick to fish.

Food is excellent, service is not as good. The main waiter was rude about a request for the real wasabi root.

Sazan is an amazing place for authentic Japanese food. They have so many menu options that aren't typically seen on American Japanese restaurants. They greet you with a warm, scented towel for your hands which is a nice touch. The chirashi sazan is fun to eat as it has a colorful assortment of seafood and sashimi including shrimp, salmon, tuna, octopus, etc. Would recommended asking for their tea! Loved the service and the food

Horrible place! My children had cravings for Japanese food, however, one of them has multiple food allergies, so we had to bring his own food. The restaurant man told us outside food is not allowed even after we explained to him of my son's medical condition. For all the restaurants we've been to, ALL of them became sympathetic and gave us the exception. But the guy was very cold and unmoved. We had no choice but to leave the restaurant. However, as I glanced down to look at my son, I saw confusion and guiltiness in his eyes. He didn't do anything wrong. Why should he/we be kicked out? When I asked for apology, the guy just firmly said, "We give no apologies." I will NEVER step into that restaurant again. I'm even hesitant to ever go to any Japanese restaurants as they tend to be more hard-headed.

Horrible service.. The owner and staffs are absolutely rude. Food itself is decent but they would ruin your time spent there.

Simply the best in the area for real Japanese. Be adventurous and order from the card with small plates. Highlights from the specials are fresh tofu and pork belly in special sauce.

We had a wonderful time in this place. We loved the first-rate atmosphere and the food. The waiters were super attentive. I am happy we ultimately decided to visit here.

Graet service, amazing sushi-very tasty and simple. I would definitely go there again.We finished with some tasty green tea and red bean ice cream and it was delicious!

Authentic Japanese cuisine from a top chef that is so needed in this area. I always come for the chef’s tasting. The $85 and $100 menus are a great value and the food is by far better than some of the best omakase menus in the city.

This has become my favorite Japanese restaurant of all time. They serve the real authentic Japanese cuisine that you rarely see elsewhere. I recommend exploring the appetizer menu that has dozens of gems on it and the chasoba beef dish as an entree.

Decent food at a price point I entered 30 minutes before the end of the lunch time, but it was too quick to eat ..

We've been going here forever. Ask to sit at the bar in front of Mr. Sato and do the omakase. Delicious every time.

Tidy fresh

We like the clean food @ this restaurant however have been horribly insulted by the owners for not tipping enough,, The second time we returned they came to our table before taking our order and asked how much we will tip.. To insure proper service comes after the service and we were insulted never to return..I recently sent the owner an article from the New York Times about tip inclusion in Japan.I think they keep the share of tips.Only guessing

Really authentic Japanese food. Loved their sushi and rolls. The dinner sets are a little pricey, but if you know what to order it's actually very reasonably priced.

Authentic Japanese food. Sat at the sushi bar and did the one where the chef decides what to make piece by piece. I enjoyed it a lot. My friend introduced me to this place and I plan to come back. The small cozy place was packed on a Wednesday night but the service was never lacking and the servers were always attentive.

Really almost as good as the best nyt has to offer at half the price

We enjoy going out. Yesterday we went to this delicious place which friends told us about. We spent a delightful evening there with exceptional food and a courteous team and a professional cook. We put this place in our phone list and we shall certainly return soon. We warmly recommend.

One of the all around best Japanese restaurants around, from the sushi to the udon to the fun and sometime funky special appetizers. Very authentic food from a staff that has hardly changed in the past 20 years.

Dinner tonight what our family has every week - EXCELLENT in all areas:Kind and helpful staff, incredible food, pleasant & soft music, exceptional help for my Aunt who has severe mobility issues and while we do eat at this restaurant every Mon with a dear friend that lives in Manhattan each week we are met at the door, escorted to table where we find hot towels, glasses of cold water and 2 diet cokes for those who choose that drink...This is truly a delightful dining experience with most reasonable prices.
